ICMTEA2016
2nd International Conference on Mathematical Techniques in Engineering Applications (ICMTEA2016), April 29-30, 2016, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India
The 2nd International Conference on Mathematical Techniques in Engineering Applications (ICMTEA2016) was successfully held in the Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Dehradun on 29-30 April, 2016. The Convener of the conference, Dr. Mangey Ram addressed the gathering highlighting the scope and aims of the conference and expressed great happiness on the occasion of the event. The invited speakers and participants were welcomed by the department. There were nine technical sessions with six sessions for invited speaker and two sessions (having two parallel sessions each) for paper presentation.
The conference had 11 invited speakers from the expert of advances in mathematics and engineering areas. The speakers included eminent personalities in pure and applied mathematics. They included Prof. Jozef Korbicz, University of Zielona Gora, Poland; Prof. Lirong Cui, Beijing Institute of Technology, China; Prof. Tadashi Dohi, Hiroshima University, Japan; Prof. V. Sree Hari Rao, International Centre for Interdisciplinary Research and Innovation, Hyderabad; Prof. Mohan Joshi, IIT Gandhinagar, India; Prof. S. B. Singh, G. B. Pant University, Pantnagar, India; Prof. P. V. Varde, Bhabha Atomic Research, Centre, Mumbai; Prof. Priti Kumar Roy, Jadavpur, University, Kolkata; Prof. Kripasindhu Chaudhuri, Jadavpur, University, Kolkata; Prof. Prasun Das, Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata; Prof. S. L. Singh, Rishikesh, India etc.
The invited speakers gave in-depth understanding of their field of expertise. There were discussions on Stimulations in Simple Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Perspective of Control Theory. The discussions also included the role of regression-based approach in software reliability engineering, cascading failure models and system reliability, risk-informed modeling and decisions for complex engineering systems. There were interesting talks on ecology to energy through mathematical models: sustainable biodiesel production, soft computing approaches in technical diagnostics. The speakers also discussed the optimal joint harvest of a prawn fishery and a poultry of birds in a linked bioeconomic system, designing near-optimal irregular experimental plans satisfying multi-optimality criteria etc. There was a talk about a major breakthrough in the dynamics of the logistic map.
There were 111 papers presented in the conference. The papers presented in the conference were from distinguished universities such as Beijing Institute of Technology (Beijing, P. R. China), Hiroshima University, IIT Roorkee, IIT Kanpur, IIT BHU Varansi, Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata, Jadavepur University, G. B. Pant Univiversity Pantnagar, Chuo University (Tokyo, Japan), Kinjo Gakuin University (Japan), Pusan National University (Republic of Korea), IIT Mandi, NITs, Gurukula Kangri University Haridwar, G. B. Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment and Development Kosi-Katarmal Almora, Indian School of Mines Dhanbad, Institute of Armament Technology Girinagar Pune etc. There were 9 parallel sessions headed by two or three expert reviewers who chaired each session. The sessions were categorized in the following areas:
There were very interesting talks and presentations such as Ecology to energy through mathematical models, cascading failure models and system reliability, designing near-optimal irregular experimental plans satisfying multi-optimality criteria, risk-informed modeling and decisions for complex engineering systems, soft computing approaches in technical diagnostics, on the role of regression-based approach in software reliability engineering, fractal analysis method of time series data, mathematical perspective of control theory, stimulations in simple dynamical systems, etc.
The conference presentation was well organized and there was an active participation from the participants in the question and answer session. The participants and speakers were also provided with proper lodging and catering facility.
The conference received around 260 papers out of which, 130 papers were accepted. Out of these, 111 papers were presented in the conference. The conference received research papers from seven countries - India, China, Korea, Japan, Poland, and Nigeria. The conference proceedings with good quality papers will be published in following journals.
The conference was concluded by Valedictory function by Head of Mathematics Department, Graphic Era (Deemed to be University), Prof. R. P. Tripathi. The conference meeting was successful for young researchers to share new ideas, to learn from experts, to get useful feedback on their research work and hopefully some collaboration to do further research. It also gave a very broad understanding of Mathematics and its application in various disciplines such as computer science, reliability engineering, finite element analysis, vibration, fluid mechanics, cloud computing, bio-medical application, neural network, fuzzy logic, etc. It also gave participants to have an international exposure and to work with faculty and students from Universities from abroad and India.
